    Resort Question

    Maafushivaru is in the South Ari Atoll of the Maldives.

    The Maldives has a tropical climate with warm temperatures and sunshine year-round. The weather can be impacted during the monsoon seasons from December through April and May through November, during which more rain is expected. However, as the Maldives is situated across the equator, severe storms are rare.

    Yes! Children of all ages are welcome.

    Every effort shall be made to accommodate your request. However, there is no guarantee and this is subject to availability upon arrival.

    Room rate do not include 10% Service Charge & 16% Tourism Goods & Service Tax. Service Charge & TGST (Tourism Goods & Service Tax) is applicable to all service including accommodation charges. Tax rates are subject to change without notice and any increases will be passed on to the guest.

    While within the Outrigger Maldives Maafushivaru Resort you are asked to sign all your extras to your villa. You may check your bill at any time and pay daily if you wish, or settle everything upon check-out. If is not necessary to exchange your currency but cash can be requested at our Reception Desk, which is then charged back to your villa.

    Towels are provided in your villa for use at the pool or beach, but additional towels are also supplied at the pool.

    We have square pin electrical sockets in all our rooms and the voltage is 220. For your convenience, a multi-socket adapter is provided free of charge.

    Free Wi-Fi is available in all guest villas and most common areas around the resort. Laptops are available for rent from our reception desk.

    We do have a Renewal of Vows service, however please note that this is not a legally recognized wedding ceremony.

    We do not have a dress code. However, we do ask to cover swimwear while dining in the restaurants, visiting reception or in the bars in the evening. As the Maldives is a strict Muslim country, topless sunbathing is not permitted.

    Snorkeling equipment is available from Coral water sports center and the use of snorkeling equipment is included for all guests.

    We ask all guests to not smoke inside your suite and use the ash trays provided on the outdoor deck. All restaurants are non-smoking except for Koffee 'n Chill and Edgewater, which both have a smoking and non-smoking section. Designated smoking areas are located outside our other restaurants.

    No, generally the presence of mosquitoes around the island is fairly nominal due to regular non-hazardous insecticide fogging conducted twice a week. If you are particularly sensitive to mosquito bites we recommend using a mosquito repellent, which can be purchased at our shop.

    Guests may receive a full refund if your reservation is cancelled according to the schedule below:

    December 24 through January 5:
    Reservation needs to be cancelled at least 45 days prior to your scheduled arrival date.

    January 6 through April 15:
    Reservation needs to be cancelled at least 21 days prior to your scheduled arrival date.

    April 16 through December 23:
    Reservation needs to be cancelled at least 15 days prior to your scheduled arrival date.

    US Dollar is preferred currency all over the Maldives but we do accept Euros and Sterling Pound. Please note Mutilated notes are not acceptable in the Maldives.

    A compulsory gala dinner will be held on Christmas Eve (24th December) and New Year’s Eve (31st December). Costs will include Food & Entertainment and are inclusive of all taxes. Please note vegetarian options are available and other dietary requirements can be catered for.

    Travel Question

    Maafushivaru is located 96 km southwest from Velana International Airport, the main international airport in the Maldives’ capital city, Male.

    Yes! You will be greeted with a personalized welcome by Outrigger hosts upon exiting the Immigration Customs and entering the Arrivals Hall. Your hosts will then escort you to the seaplane check-in counter and taken to a comfortable lounge to wait for your seaplane connection to Maafushivaru.

    All Transfers by Seaplane are arranged according to the international flight schedule

    Seaplane Transfer

    The Outrigger Maldives experience begins with your arrival at Male International Airport where our airport representative will meet you at the exit of the arrival gate, holding a board displaying "Outrigger". They will escort you directly to the Trans Maldivian Airways Terminal (TMA - Seaplane Service Provider) for your check-in procedure. The transfer will be shared with other passengers and a short waiting time may be required if other passengers are expected. Every effort will be made to arrange your resort transfer within 2 to 3 hours of arriving at the lounge. Your seaplane journey will be approximately 25 minutes and will allow you to sight the beauty of Maldivian arche resort to the airport.

    All seaplane journeys are operated by TMA only during daylight hours as per aviation standard. To arrange Seaplane transfers, your outbound flight must arrive in the Maldives between 06:00 am and 3:30 pm, and an Inbound flight from the Maldives must depart between 09:15 am and 11:00 pm. To catch the last seaplane transfer for the day, the guests must be reported to the TMA check-in counter at the airport by 4:00 pm at the latest. After Landing at Velanaa International Airport and finishing all the immigration processes, guests who are not able to check in at the seaplane counter latest 4 pm will be required to stay overnight in Malé. We recommend booking a hotel within proximity to the airport.

    Seaplane reservations are only available for bookings made outside 72 hours, subject to tides, weather conditions & TMA's terms & conditions. Outrigger Maldives Maafushivaru Resort is not responsible for poor tides, weather, and sea conditions causing the journey impossible to operate at the scheduled times (canceled/delayed transfer services), and the charges will be non-refundable.

    The operator provides the resort with transfer schedules in the evening of each day for the arrival and departure on the following day. As such, all schedule timings are solely at the discretion of the seaplane management. Each guest is allowed 20 kg of checked luggage and 5 kg of hand luggage. Any excess is subject to the additional fees to be paid directly to the seaplane operator.

    Occasionally your flight may have a stop on route to drop off and pick up passengers at other resorts. We will endeavor to provide you with the most direct route, subject to availability and the required connecting time of your international flight, or onward transfer arrangements.

    Following the recent official announcement by the Government of the Maldives, effective from March 13, 2022, all guests arriving to the Maldives are no longer required to present pre-arrival PCR test result. This applies to unvaccinated guests as well.
