5 Reasons the Newly Renovated Outrigger Reef Should Be Your Next Vacay

What do oceanview penthouse suites, Grammy award-winning musicians and a canoe-hale arrival experience have in common?

They’re all part of the newly refreshed Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach. The contemporary beachfront retreat has always been rooted in Hawaiian culture, embracing the harmony of the surrounding nature and showcasing the local art and music of the islands. And now it's even that much more inviting. Here are five new reasons to come join us for a little aloha in paradise.

    1) Art Meets All-new Guest Rooms

Fresh off of the first phase of an expansive $80 million transformation, Outrigger Reef is excited to be giving guests a warm welcome again—with a whole new vibe. From carefully curated art exhibits to artfully appointed guest rooms to a singular canoe-hale arrival experience lit by traditional fishing-basket lanterns, Outrigger Reef has the well-appointed but perfectly casual feel of an elegant Hawaii beach house.

Insider tip: Reserve a penthouse suite (or the entire 18th floor with over 4,000 sq. feet of lanai (patio) space!) with sweeping ocean views as part of the "Grand Navigator Experience."

    2) Nightly Music Under the Stars

Named by slack-key legend Cyril Pahinui, Kani Ka Pila Grille means “let’s play music.” This locals-love spot has a special, backyard-with-friends feel, with new island-inspired cuisine and locally sourced cocktails—against the backdrop of Grammy Award-winning musicians popping in for traditional Hawaiian jams.

Insider tip: Come by from 6 to 8 p.m. nightly to dine al fresco while listening to live music under the stars.

    3) Learn to Lei and Ukulele

Hawaii has always been known for its distinctive culture, and Outrigger is celebrated for its authentic take on all things aloha. From learning to string your own flower lei or play the ukulele to hula dancing, our (award-winning, if we do say so ourselves) daily cultural programming lets guests experience the islands in true Hawaiian spirit.

Insider tip: It's always more fun to share. When you make your lei, make it for someone else in the Hawaiian way and feel the power of a tradition passed on for generations.

    4) Our State-of-the-Art Safety Platform

Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort follows Outrigger’s Clean Commitment—an enhanced safety platform developed by Ecolab. With new state-of-the-art technology and products, we make it easy to, well, rest easy.

Insider tip: Check out our safe-travel tips from surf photographer and family man Matt Bauer.

    5) Location, Location, Location

Famed surf breaks like Kaiser's, Fours and Threes just a short paddle from the resort. But even if you're not into riding the waves, you can relax alongside them with Outrigger Reef's location directly on the golden sands of Waikiki Beach, from beachside cabanas to sunset cocktails overlooking the famous Diamond Head.

Insider tip: Visit our friends at Sail Holokai for an epic catamaran ride.

Paradise is back in session. Join us for a little laid-back getaway - we can't wait to welcome you (back) to paradise!
