Partners to Protect Waikiki Beach
Waikiki Beach is one of the most iconic leisure destinations in the world, and one the most sought after for ocean recreation. Year-round you'll find locals and visitors walking its sandy shore, catching waves on surfboards and outrigger canoes, and snorkeling and scuba diving amid its coral reefs. Waikiki Beach is home to a myriad of marine species from green sea turtles to indigenous reef fish to sponges and urchins that attach to living coral. Keeping Waikiki Beach pristine and healthy for all to enjoy takes everyone’s participation.
Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort and Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort have partnered with the Waikiki Aquarium to encourage guests to learn about protecting of Hawaii’s sea life and reef systems. A few minutes from the heart of busy Waikiki, the Waikiki Aquarium is open daily with exhibits, events, education and volunteer programs for all ages. The Waikiki Aquarium is a research facility of the University of Hawaii and a member of the Coastal America Learning Center Network whose mission is to involve the public in protecting the nation’s marine ecosystems.
