Steady Hands, Intricate Designs

Thailand's art of leather carving is demonstrated by local craftsman Mr. Chaowalit Champatip. Traditionally, leather carving has been the method to create Nang Talung shadow puppets, another of Thailand’s indigenous arts. The leather used is typically water buffalo hide, thin and stiff to accommodate the intricate designs and colorful dyes.

Mr. Chao shares his skilled techniques for designing and carving leather art in a complimentary demonstration provided every Monday, 9 – 11 am at the resort’s Edgewater restaurant.

Classes are available at Mr. Chao’s studio for fee of 800 THB++ per person.

Escape ordinary at Outrigger Koh Samui Beach Resort.
