Heiau Kaukulaelae

Heiau are temples made of stone platforms or wall enclosures each built for a specific purpose. The use would differ depending on traditions, names. whether for people or place, are also very important because the story is the name.

Stories from KÅ«puna, elders of Keauhou, tell us that this heiau was large and very tall, standing where Pa‘akai Point is today, some of the area on the lawn ahead and where you're standing now. Look around, the rocks in this area as well as along the shoreline were probably all part of the heiau at one time. With that said, although Heiau Kaukulaelae is not in complete form, it’s still amongst us and part of this land. Take a moment to listen, look and feel the elements that are still here too.
