Stan Sheriff Center
The Stan Sheriff Center is home to the University of Hawai'i's arena sports. The structure, which dominates the University's lower campus, has seen its share of thrills during its eight-year existence. With a seating capacity of 10,300, the SSC is one of the biggest facilities in the WAC and large enough to host two NCAA Volleyball Championships. The SSC holds four home locker rooms, three visitor locker rooms, an official's locker room, a player lounge and rest area, a full-size training room, an equipment and laundry room, two hospitality rooms, an interview room, three classrooms and a teaching lab.
On the court level of the arena is the state-of-the-art Alexander C. Waterhouse Physiology, Research and Training Facility. The 10,000-square foot weight training and conditioning center features the latest equipment for the training needs of the student-athletes.
In addition, the SSC has hosted numerous non-UH events, most notably the Miss Universe Pageant in 1998. The NBA has used the arena as site of the renowned Pete Newell's Big Man's Camp, and pre-season camp for the world champion Los Angeles Lakers. Musical concerts and high school state championship events have also been hosted by the SSC.
