At Willie’s Rum & Crab Shack dining is a simple and sumptuous pairing of seafood and spirits. Order a bucket of Grand Gaube crab, marinated crispy shrimp or Willie’s crab cakes with spicy mango. Cool that down with champagne brut or an Island Coloda made with Mauritian Chamarel rum. Of course local Phoenix beer is goes well with any meal.
Beverage concoctions are high art at the resort. The Plantation Club Exquisite cocktail starts with flavor combinations like Passion Fruit Mojito and Star Anise & Ginger Pineapple -- then you pick the kick: cachaca, a local rum, pastis? Non-alcoholic refreshments are well represented, too. At the pool, try a velvety Iced Choco smoothie, Mango Delight iced tea, or Papaya-Lemongrass Madness.
The Mercado international dining room is an innovative concept that celebrates the island’s heritage in cuisine. Select a meal from the live cooking stations, a vintage from the private wine cellar, and sweet treats from the French bakery.
At the helm of the kitchens at Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort is Executive Chef Geert-Jan Vaartjes. Formerly chef de cuisine at Michelin-rated restaurants in his home country of the Netherlands, Chef Vaartjes is now quite at home in the tropics. With Executive Sous Chef Sundaravelan Sadien, specializing in Mauritian creole cuisine, and Asian expert Chef Ta Van Ninh, guests can expect to be delighted with an array of multi-cultural flavors as a part of their resort experience.
