Volunteer on Vacation and Fall in Love

Volunteer on vacation and fall in love?  Seems so.  We’re not talking about falling in love with the vacation place but with a real, live human being.  That’s the take of this recent Time magazine article.

The truth is I met–and fell in love with–my husband on vacation, but it was a college spring break boondoggle, not anything as wholesome and good as re-building homes in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina or repairing coral reef in Thailand after the Christmas tsunami.  And while my husband and I recently celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary with a trip to Maui and a day spent helping clean up Honokowai Valley, I never really thought of a volunteer vacation as a matchmaking service, but after reading this article, it makes sense.
