A Word about Proper Hawaiian Language Spelling

Aloha. OutriggerHawaii recognizes that the proper use of written Hawaiian language should utilize two diacriticals; symbols commonly called the glottal stop and the macron (or the ´okina and kahakõ in Hawaiian). These two symbols indicate how Hawaiian words should be correctly pronounced; providing the reader clues to pauses and correct emphasis.

However, due to current technology limitations, the consistent use of these two diacriticals on this web site is not possible at this time. OutriggerHawaii truly regrets this, since one of the primary goals of this site is to provide users with an authentic experience from all aspects; whether it’s the videos or the words that help navigate from point-to-point.

OutriggerHawaii will continue to monitor and evolve the current technology and hope that soon we will be able to provide all visitors to this website with a true representation of the Hawaiian language. Enjoy your visit. Mahalo.
