This week in Hawaii, we're playing tag with the weather. The trade winds have gone into hiding, and we're experiencing a "kona system" out of the south. Night rains give way to sunny days, which sometimes witness bouts of determined rain followed by intense sunshine. It's good to pack an umbrella or light jacket. Or just surf. Surfing is, after all, a water sport.
I spent a couple days in Waikiki at Outrigger Reef on the Beach
. Whenever I stay here, I am drawn to the concrete sea wall that juts perpendicular to the beach--and I'm not the only one. It's the perfect place to drink your morning beverage of choice--I prefer tea--and watch the sun crawl over the lip of Diamond Head. It's a performance that's repeated every day, much to everyone's delight.
