Flash forward to modern Phuket, where Outrigger Laguna Phuket Beach Resort’s Executive Sous Chef is incorporating this history and unique flavors into his new Peranakan BBQ “pop up” restaurant. This year, Team Outrigger is running Hawaii's Hapalua Half Marathon in support of the Polynesian Voyaging Society and the organization’s Worldwide Voyage. We invite both our guests and local residents to participate in this fun event that also raises funds for Hōkūleʻa's journey.

“Celebrate Kani Ka Pila” will offer an unforgettable concert from some of Hawaii’s most noted musical artists, not to mention a grazing menu of delectable island cuisine. It addition to supporting our wonderful island musicians, the concert will also benefit MusiCares, an organization that provides support to musicians and other industry people who may need a little help getting back on their feet.

On March 8, 1976, the Polynesian voyaging canoe Hōkūleʻa set sail for it’s very first time. The journey from Oahu’s Kaneohe Bay to the island of Tahiti represented a common desire by the people of Hawaii, the Pacific - and the world - to protect our most cherished values and places from disappearing. 40th years later, Hōkūleʻa is continuing its work around the world.
