Keauhou Beach Resort Cultural Tour

Free guided group walking tour of the Keauhou Beach Resort grounds covering cultural history and environmental conservation. The tour includes:
  • Pokamenehune. This man-made breakwater once enclosed all of Kahalu`u and Kealialia Lagoons next to the hotel.
  • Po`o Hawai`i Pond. This brackish pool located on the hotel grounds was once used to keep fish for chiefs and as a bathing site for Hawaiian royalty.
  • King Kalakaua's Beach House. This reconstructed house in the hotel gardens serves as a historical outdoor exhibit of Hawai`i's monarchial era.
  • Native Hawaiian plants. Learn about the practical uses of native plants found throught the hotel gardens including naupaka, kukui, ti and `ulu.
The tour is open to hotel guests and the general public. Meet at the reception desk in the hotel lobby.
